The Department of Science and Technology-Science Education Institute (DOST-SEI) through the Department of Education (DepEd) announces the 2014 DOST-SEI Science and Technology Undergraduate Scholarships’ nationwide examination on September 22, 2013.
The enactment of the Science and Technology Scholarship Act of 1994 is a glaring proof of the government’s promise to promote the development of the country’s science and technology human resources in line with economic development and to provide the capability required in the areas of research, development, innovation as well as their utilization.
The scholarship reaches out to poor, talented and deserving students desiring to pursue baccalaureate degrees in science and technology along identified priority areas in selected higher education institutions in the country.
The Department of Science and Technology – Science Education Institute (DOST-SEI) will award Bachelor of Science degree scholarships to students who wish to pursue priority fields of study in science, mathematics and engineering.

Where to Secure / File Application
The application form can be obtained at the Science Education Institute, 2nd Level, Science Heritage Bldg., DOST Cmpd., General Santos Ave., Bicutan, Taguig City, Metro Manila; DOST Regional Offices; Provincial Science and Technology Centers (PSTC) or Offices of the Congressmen and Senators. It can be downloaded at the websites, www.sei.dost.gov.ph and www.science-scholarships.ph.
Accomplished form can be filed at the Science Education Institute, or DOST Regional Office/PSTC nearest the applicant’s school or home address.
The Test Permit/s shall be mailed to the applicant/s or school principal for distribution to the applicants. In case the test permits are not received within the week before the examination day, the examinees may inquire from the DOST Regional Office/PSTC and check the nearest designated test center a day before the examination.
Scholarship Requirements
a) An awardee must seek admission and enroll at any of the:
a.1 State universities and colleges.
a.2 Tertiary institutions identified as Centers of Excellence or Centers of Development by CHED for the priority courses.
a.3 DOST-SEI identified network institutions.
He/She should pass the qualifying examination for admission to the university where he/she plans to enroll in.
b) An awardee shall comply with the terms of the Scholarship Agreement to be entered into between himself/herself, parents or legal guardian and the DOST-SEI.
c) After signing the Scholarship Agreement, the awardee’s name shall be included in the lists of scholars needing clearance from DOST-SEI forwarded to the appropriate government agency/ies for tracking purposes.
d) An awardee shall maintain the grade requirements of the scholarship.
e) Upon completion of his/her course, an awardee shall serve in the country, preferably in his/her home region, on full-time basis along his/her field of training for a minimum period equivalent to the length of time he/she enjoyed the scholarship.
Examination Coverage
This is an aptitude test designed to measure abilities that determine academic and professional success in science, mathematics and engineering. The test is divided into two major components:
1. Intellective
Scientific Ability; Quantitative Ability; Mechanical and Technical Ability; Linguistic Ability; Imagery; Inspection; Sensorimotor Ability and Working Memory.
2. Non-Intellective
Selection Criteria
The awardees shall be selected on the basis of their performance in the 2014 S&T Scholarship Examination.
