How to get a Philippine passport? I have listed the steps, procedures, requirements and tips in getting your passport in the Philippines. Whether you’re a first timer or have applied a long long time ago…this article will let you obtain your passport the fastest way and expedited way.

Applying to obtain your passport? Perhaps you’re into travelling or working overseas that you finally decided to obtain your lovely passport. I just got my passport few years ago and not for those reasons. My boss asked me one day if I’ve got mine. Was wondering if she was into dragging me with her holiday trip. But it was just a random question. I told her not yet. She laughed and joked about me being left behind here if the next world war struck here. lol Made sense. So there I’ve got mine but it wasn’t so easy and fast I tell you. If you hate going to different government agencies here in Phil. obviously you get what I mean. Ok let’s proceed to getting your Philippine passport.

Passport Fees:
Regular Processing: Php 950.00 (20 working days)
Rush Processing: Php 1,200.00 (10 working days)
An additional fee of Php 200.00 will be charged for processing of Lost Passports if it is still valid.
Philippine Passport for New Applicants
Before I enumerate the list of requirements to obtain Philippines passport for new applicants, let me first give you some nice tips to have a smooth and fast process of getting your passport. First, have your documents all consistent and accurate.

Check all important personal details and information and make sure they all tally with your IDs and papers. These details are your complete name, date of your birth, place of birth, your parents’ name, their birthdates, address, and the like. These details must all tally and be consistent because they will be stored in the DFA’s database.

Also please make sure you have all the same signature from your valid IDs to avoid going home. Why you must do this? Simply to avoid embassy problems, government records errors and other related problems.

3 steps in getting Philippine Passport (New and Renew)

  • Scheduling an appointment to your nearest DFA office (please download the DFA application form I linked below to save time in filling it out and falling in line)
  • Attending at the exact appointment without being late. (at this time, you must have all the requirements and the fees for passport processing payment)
  • Passport releasing
I recommend you reserve an appointment the earliest date prior to your travel or whatever purpose and reason you have. If you want to make an advance appointment in Manila, go to this link and apply for a passport through their online passport application. I've listed the addresses of the DFA offices for the other provinces nationwide below. You can schedule your desired time and day for your appointment. Take note, it’s not a guarantee you’ll get your passport faster as there are different populations from each region.

I also suggest you download the application form and fill it out before you go to your DFA office to complete all requirements and have all data accurate. Sometimes, you forget data so I suggest you fill out the forms at home. Anywayz, you can download as many forms as you want. Go to the link below to download your passport application form.

That's what I've known from our regional office when I got my parents passport.

UPDATE Jan. 25, 2012:
Good news to everyone! The Department of Foreign Affairs announced recently that we can process our passport renewal in some malls nationwide soon. I’ve seen a big billboard from a huge mall (Robinsons Starmills) in my province already and this is very good news because we don’t need to go to any DFA office that is far from our home town. At least it’s gonna be more convenient and accessible. Plus it will lessen headaches coz the malls are cololer than some DFA office service areas. While only renewing of passports are gonna be entertained, apparently soon new passport application service will follow.
