Catandungan Festival 2013
Catandungan Festival is a celebration of the province's anniversary and tribute to its founders, to continuously remind the people of Catanduanes of the province's independence from the province of Albay. Come and witness the celebration this coming October 24-26, 2013.

The streets of the town capital Virac will be soaked in a festive atmosphere as the people bustled around to join the celebration of Catandungan Festival. The major events are street dance competition locally known as “Pantomina”,  the crowning of the island's most beautiful lady, agro-industrial fair, grand parade and surfing competition.

Catanduanes version of pantomina shows the ardent pursuit by a lover of his beloved who demurely refuses at first but surrenders in the end.  Bringing the dance to the streets envisions to popularize the dance especially to the youth and insure its continuity as a cultural tradition and to develop a sense of identity and belonging among Catandunganons through dance forms.

The Festival's main activities includes Seminar on Hotel, Resort and Restaurant Operations; Seminar on Customer  Service Management; Training on Tourist Transport and Passenger Handling for Tricycle Drivers; International Research Forum; Catandungan Festival Bazaar; Capitol Sportsfest; Majestic Puraran Surfing Cup and 10th Ecotrek.

The festival proper will start on October 24 will kick-off with a civic- military parade around downtown Virac to be participated by government employees, non-government organizations, students and other sectors of the community.

On October 21, the festivity will feature the search for Ginoong Catandungan while Bb. Catandungan Pageant Night will be held on October 24. Meanwhile, the festivity will also showcase fashion show which will highlight the rich culture and creations of the province on the culmination of the celebration on October 26 .


How to Get There:
If your going by plane to Catanduanes, Cebu Pacific flies directly from Manila to Virac vice versa every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.

Skyjet Airlines will resume its flights to the island of Catanduanes on October 15, 2013, In time with the celebration of the Catandungan Festival 2013.

Numerous bus services travelling from Manila to Tabaco are available. The travel time usually take 9-10 hours. Regular ferries connect Virac to the port of Tabaco. From the seaport of Tabaco, hop on either at MV Calixta or MV Eugene Elson to reach the island of Catanduanes via San Andres or Virac seaport.
