Marikina was given the title the "Shoe Capital of the Philippines" because of its notable shoe industry, being the biggest manufacturer of shoes in the Philippines, producing almost 70% of shoe production in the country.

This year, the City Government of Marikina held the annual "Sapatos Festival," from September 14 to December 30 with the theme "I Feel Good! Gawang Marikina.. Gawang Kinikilala". Catch Marikina-based fashion lines and brands come together for your choices of shoes and bags and more in prices and bargains that will surely make your wallet feel the good too!

The Mega Shoe Sale was opened in Patio Del Zapateros last September 16 and will last up to December 30. Patio Del Zapateros is a one-stop shoe shop located inside the city’s cultural zone in J. P. Rizal. It will also be opened in Lucky Chinatown Mall, Manila from September 28 to 29, SM City Marikina from October 19 to 20, and Sta. Lucia East Mall from October 26 to 27. A Metro-wide Shoe Caravan is also set to open on September 30 to November 8 at different cities and municipalities in Metro Manila.
