“Give It Your Best Shot!” Nationwide Photography Contest
for Government Employees
Term of the Contest:
Deadline of submission of entries: July 16, 2012, at 5:00 PM.
Who may join the Contest:
The photography contest is open to all public servants/government
employees regardless of appointment status – except employees of the
Civil Service Commission and all other government employees affiliated
with the National Press Club (NPC) and Press Photographers of the
Philippines (PPP).
What to capture in your Photograph:
Photos should capture the essence of public service at its best in
the Filipino’s everyday life. The same should be able to interpret the
theme: Kawani Ikaw Ay Isang Lingkod Bayani!
What Photo should be submitted:
• Photographs must have been recently shot (2011 onwards).
• For a photo in which a person is recognizable, the photographer is responsible for securing permission from that person or, in the case of a minor, from the subject’s parent or guardian.
• The following photographs are disqualified:
o Photographs that are digitally or otherwise enhanced or altered for creative purposes. Altered Images refer to Photographs manipulated and applied with special effects (colorizing, toning, collage, photo composites, HDR, etc.). However, minor adjustments, including sharpening, contrast and slight color adjustment or the digital equivalents, are acceptable
o Photographs that have been submitted to or won in any other contests or have been published in print or online.
o Photos that violate another person’s rights, including but not limited to copyright.
o Photos which are highly immoral, relatively obscene and/or in violation of public moral and/or public policy.

How to join the Contest:

Submit your entry/photograph together with the accomplished entry form to the Civil Service Commission –Central Office (CSC-CO), Constitution Hills, Diliman, Quezon City, or to any Civil Service Regional/Field Office (CSCROs/FOs) covering your area. For this purpose, the CSCROs/FOs shall forward all entries received to the CSC-CO not later than July 18, 2012.
• Complete the attached entry form. Submit your entry/photograph together with the accomplished entry form to the Civil Service Commission –Central Office (CSC-CO), Constitution Hills, Diliman, Quezon City, or to any Civil Service Regional/Field Office (CSCROs/FOs) covering your area. For this purpose, the CSCROs/FOs shall forward all entries received to the CSC-CO not later than July 18, 2012.
• Submit your entry/photograph (only 1 entry/photograph per entrant) with the following requirements:
1. 8R size, color print, unmounted
2. JPEG Format File with a minimum size of 1MB in a Compact Disk (CD).

• All photos submitted shall become properties of the Commission.
• By joining the contest, the entrant is considered to have granted the Civil Service Commission permission or license to use the photos, along with the names of the photographers, for various publications and marketing collaterals of the CSC, and for other purposes.

Judging:
Criteria
1. Relevance to the Theme (How well the photo interprets the theme ): 25%
2. Creativity (How the photographer showed some creative thoughts. How the subject matter is pictured in a unique and interesting way): 25%
3. Technique (Use of elements of photography. Whether the photo showed balance in light, focus, depth of field, etc.): 25%
4. Overall impact (Whether the photo was able to grab and hold the viewers’ attention. Is there a “wow” factor): 25%

Screening of Entries/Photographs
• Screening shall be done at the CSC-CO. Entries shall be judged by a panel composed of representatives from partner organizations and the Commission.
• The panel of judges will initially determine the top thirteen (13) entries/photographs based on the established criteria.
• The First Prize, Second Prize and Third Prize winners will be chosen from the top thirteen (13) entries/photographs.
• Decision of the judges is considered final and unappealable.
• Screening shall be done at the CSC-CO. Entries shall be judged by a panel composed of representatives from partner organizations and the Commission.
• The panel of judges will initially determine the top thirteen (13) entries/photographs based on the established criteria.

• First Prize: Cash Prize of Twenty Thousand Pesos (P20, 000.00) and a framed Certificate
• Second Prize: Cash Prize of Ten Thousand Pesos (P10,000.00) and a framed Certificate.
• Third Prize: Cash Prize of Five Thousand Pesos (P5,000.00) and a framed Certificate.
• Consolation prizes: P1,000.00 and a framed Certificate each for the other ten chosen photos.
• First Prize: Cash Prize of Twenty Thousand Pesos (P20, 000.00) and a framed Certificate
• Second Prize: Cash Prize of Ten Thousand Pesos (P10,000.00) and a framed Certificate.
• Third Prize: Cash Prize of Five Thousand Pesos (P5,000.00) and a framed Certificate.
• Consolation prizes: P1,000.00 and a framed Certificate each for the other ten chosen photos.
*Winning photos will be used for various publications and marketing
collaterals of the CSC as well as exhibited in selected government
galleries.

Awarding of Prizes:
• Awarding of winners will be in September 2012 (specific date and place to be announced) within the month long celebration of the 112th Philippine Civil Service Anniversary.
