Slated to coincide with the celebration of the 114th Independence Day of the Republic of the Philippines, the celebration for the 64rd Charter Anniversary of Naga City, set on May 28-June 19, is expected to feature the continuation of cultural and environmental efforts set moving by the local government during the past three years according to City Information Officer IV Allen Reondanga.
“Pilimania,” a series of tree-planting activities started last year
for the propagation of pili trees within the city, is set by the local
government on June 13-17 with a activities ranging from the actual
planting of trees on June 16 and 17 (citywide Mass Pili Planting on June
16 and Pilimania Extreme Charter Day Plant, Run and Exhibit on June
17), a motorcade on June 13 with a Kick-Off Motorcade, the 2nd Pilimania
Charter Fair on June 13-16 and a Pilimania Extreme Jam free concert on
June 17 at the Naga City Coliseum.
The Kinalas Festival will see its second year of celebration on June
18, featuring the centerpieces of Naga City’s culinary history and
culture, the kinalas and toasted siopao.
The entire celebration will be started with the Philippine Flag Day
on May 28 with the ceremonial simultaneous display of Philippine Flags
at the City Rotonda, Plaza Rizal, Plaza Quince Martires and the City
Hall Compound.
The City Health Office will conduct the Sandugo: Charter Day Blood Letting Activity at its Conference Room on June 8.
Meanwhile, the 114th Philippine Independence Day will be celebrated
on June 12 with a Flag Raising Activity at Plaza Quezon to be followed
by the start of Pilimania on June 13.
The Naga City Charter Anniversary Jobs Fair will be held at the
GSP-KSBK Garden on June 15-16 alongside City Hall Open House at City
Hall on June 15 with free medical and dental services, free civil
registration services, Nutri Ataman/Nutri Nanay/Dietary Counseling, free
dance workshop and People’s Mall Business Opportunity seminars.
The NGO-PO Night is slated on June 16 at the People’s Hall and City
Hall Grounds while a Thanksgiving Mass and a Mass Wedding will be
celebrated on June 18.
The Naga City Coliseum is expected to be packed with sports fans
wanting to view the 8th Charter Anniversary Inter-Collegiate Basketball
Tournament and the 1st Charter Anniversary Open Volleyball Tournament on
June 18 while a outstanding NagueƱos will be honored at the Avenue
Convention Plaza at Magsaysay Avenue during the 2012 Naga City Mayoral
Awards in the evening.
On June 19, in celebration of the 151st birthday of the National Hero
Jose P. Rizal, an honor guard formation and flower offering at the
monument of Plaza Rizal will be held at plaza Rizal, to be followed by
City Mayor John G. Bongat’s delivery of his State of the City Report
(Pagpaabot sa Banwaan) at the People’s Hall of the City Hall Complex.
